Stereo Fallout is a 3-piece band fronted by former Trixter guitarist Steve Brown, who now does double duty as guitarist and lead singer. I read about this band somewhere on the internet and since I was a Trixter fan, looked up their site (www.stereofallout.com) which, is all but useless if you're looking for information about the band, but it DOES give you an immediate preview of the music. Useless sites are a personal pet peeve of mine, so I left. I figure if you can't be bothered to put together some relevant information in an easy to navigate fashion, I've got better things to do with my time. But dammit, just that quick, the song stuck in my head, so I had to go back. I went to their CDBaby link and previewed the album. It was good. Really good. It was good in away that is simple and immediate. Like ... cake. It was just fun. It was familiar, but current. But it's more than that, because upon hearing me play this I have had other people say "If you like that you might like (insert crappy band here)." I'm constantly amazed at some people's inability to hear subtle nuances in music. Something as obvious as the difference between catchy rock with a really good guitarist and simple music played by mediocre musicians. Anyway, this is good. The songs have some elemsents of Browns 80's rock heritage, but they are packaged in an ultra modern rock sound, that when done well, is not necessarily a bad thing. Big guitars, big choruses with big production ... You should really check this out. Upon writing this however, I have already heard that Trixter is reforming this year, so you should pick this up while you still can. Either way, I'll be following Steve Brown more closely from now on. --Scott
