Compression is sort of a modern rock album with strong roots in blues and jazz. There’s a little King’s X and of course some Mr. Big, but it also has a pretty unique feel in a lot of ways. While the song structuring is relatively simple, and even the melodies themselves seem a bit basic, there is always something interesting going on musically. There are just layers and layers of detail and of course the playing is superb. Billy vocals are very laid back and relaxed. He isn’t great but he’s more than capable. With a career spanning over twenty years Billy is one of the most respected musicians around and this cd shows why. --Scott
