The Dark Ride

This is definitely Helloween’s best release since Andi took over the vocals. Even though he doesn’t have what I would consider a good singing voice he really knows how to get the most out of it and really tailor the songs and vocal melodies to suit his voice. As the title indicates, this cd has a darker edge to it than their previous work. Not surprisingly, this album is also very reminiscent of Andi’s work with PC69. Games People Play, in particular, but there is also the usual Helloween sound, a touch of Savatage and even a strong Leatherwolf influence on a few tracks. The songs are well written and Roy Z’s production is perfect. I encourage you all to take the Dark Ride. --Scott
