The Black Album was the first to show the "New" Metallica. It recieved massive airplay and won many awards. Songs like Enter Sandman, The Unforgiven, and Nothing Else Matters went on to become Metallica classics. With the exception of a couple of songs, the thrash that Metallica was famous for is gone. This new direction brings bottom-heavy grooves and wah-wah pedaled solos in to the mix that is a mainstay still today. This cd is full of good songs but was definitely over-produced and over-played.
