With almost a decade between releases, it was hard to know what to expect, but Street Legal despite massive line-up changes (everyone except the singer is out) has remained pretty true to the formula that earned him praise from critics and fans alike ten years ago. That formula, of course, being Thin Lizzy's formula, but Hell they aren't doing anything with it, so somebody might as well use it. There are, as you might expect, lots of twin guitar harmonies, some Blue-Murder bass lines and of course some soulful Sykes-style singing. There are a few oddly chosen covers included on this album. None more so that Flashdance's Maniac, but they are all done in the same style, so they fit. The songs aren't as sharply produced as their debut and the overall sound isn't as heavy, but the vibe is still similar. If you like Think Lizzy or even Blue Murder, you would probably still enjoy this cd. --Scott
