The Great Burrito Extortion Case

A freind recently asked me if I had heard this cd and I responded that I wouldn't waste my time or money on a cd by a band called Bowling for Soup. (I'm still trying to decide who has the worst name, them or Jimmy Eat World) Anyway, at his urging, I looked into it. It would have been my loss. To make a long story short, I bought it. It's not exactly my kind of music, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't play the hell out of it. The music is a punkier kind of Poison, but the real draw is the lyrics. Almost every song made me laugh out loud at least once and while that normally would not be a good enough reason for me to recommend a cd, this band seems to have put together, just the right music with just the right lyrics and just the right attitude. It wouldn't work if they couldn't play, and funny lyrics don't matter if the songs aren't catchy, but they seem to have the whole package and everything seems to work. They are clearly having fun and it comes through and it's contagious. It won't be for everyone, but hey, I'm wearing their t-shirt right now! --Scott
