Tipping their hat to the late punk and early glam that played in the famous 70ís Hollywood club from which they took their name, Starwood is a throwback band with a modern twist. Itís not a new idea, but theyíve executed it better than most. Leaning heavily on stripped down, simplified riffs and catchy melodies, this should appeal to fans of everything from Cheap Trick to Vain. And while they could stand on their own in this genre, I would be remiss not to point out their most obvious, and curious, draw. Starwood is actually Lizzy Borden. Itís not an angle theyíre trying to cash in on. In fact they arenít even mentioning it in the press releases and Lizzy didnít list his famous last name on the cd credits. Frankly most Lizzy Borden fans probably wouldnít like this, but I do. Itís well written, well played and well produced, and while I hope this isnít a permanent change for Lizzy, (cuz I loved his last cd) itís definitely an interesting change of pace. --Scott
