I first heard Pretty Maids on Mtv's Headbanger's Ball with the video for this album's title track. Anyway, I got the album. Pretty Maids is mostly dominated by sharp choppy guitar riffs, accompanying keyboards and the dual vocal personalities of the singer. He trades back and forth between a good Joey Tempest style singing voice and a snarling, heavily german accented Udo-like growl. In my opinion that's what held them back from commercial success here in the states. If he could have utilized the better side of his vocal talents more frequently they might have reached a broader audience. The music is really top notch though and I still like this cd. --Scott
